At this time I do not have any new information to post, I have heard there are new people on the roster but I'm waiting to get the updated list. So forgive me if I do not have the roster listed correctly. I will list the calls shown in the CAD since the last update.
  • 02-04-08..Barn Fire, 735 Road 72
  • 02-21-08..Vehicle Maintence, Dan Brenner
  • 02-25-08..Vehicle Maintence, Truck n Tractor

The KFD has had some changes with their Fire Chief, at this time Alan David is the Chief with Larry Wilkerson as Co-Chief. From on going talks with the Sherman Co Commissioners it appears that in the future the Kanorado, Brewster, and SHCO Rural Fire Departments will all be under one Fire Chief. With changing rules and regulations it is making it harder for small departments to handle all the paperwork involved. I'm not sure what all will change but it may make it easier for everyone to get their training etc. When I know more of the details I will post them to this page.

The following 4 calls is what the CAD has shown for KFD since the last updates. Thanks for being willing and able to help so many others in their time of need!

Kanorado Fire did some Fire Training while conducting a controlled burn. Not every day do you get a chance to have some training with a real house fire. The following is one picture from this burn that occurred on 12-10-06. Thanks to Crissy and Jake Conger for taking and and sharing the photo for this site. To view all the pictures taken go to the KFD Slideshow and click on the link.

The KFD has had a quiet couple of months, although saying quiet is a dirty word in our business! Anyway looking in the CAD I see KFD had been called out 3 times since March 2nd for grassfires. One on 03-05-06 was located near county roads 67 and 9. Then next was on 03-07-06 at 222 Road 77. The third on 03-13-06 at Railroad and the Collingwood Office. Thank goodness all 3 were taken care of and put out by KFD before they became a major fire. States all around us have had a lot of trouble with out of control grassfires.

Things have been fairly quiet for the KFD since the first of the year. The one time they had to be called out for a grass fire near MM 3, I-70, it had to be in the middle of the night. The call interrupted several of the firefighter's sleep but they got to the fire soon enough to prevent it getting larger and becoming a major grass fire. Thanks Guys!

Thanks to Crissy going to one of the KFD meetings we now have some pictures to post showing Firefighters and equipment. Plus the KFD now has a new volunteer, Jake Conger. I will post the current list I have for the KFD volunteers at the end of this update.

This Update will be brief because I don't have a lot to work with as of yet. It has been 2 years since I last wrote any of these for this website. Check the Home Page Link at the top of this page to read more on the beginning of this site and why it was stopped for awhile.

Until I can start receiving better updates for this page I suggest you read the Original Page to learn more on what the KFD does and what areas they cover. There are also a few Previous Updates that you can also read. I have the links shown in a different color or you can find both the original and previous updates by clicking on the Archive Link at the top of this page.

I hope this go round that I'm able to recieve more information about the KFD's activities. I know the volunteer firefighters care enough to fight the fires. Now I hope at least one will help give information to make this page more interesting.

To help this page get better use the following link to send me ideas and information about the KFD training and activities. I will need at least one firefighter's help with giving information for these updates.

I have not been successful yet in making contact with anyone willing to give updates for the Kanorado Fire Department. Jerry Webber tried but he didn't think anyone was interested. So if there is any Kanorado People reading this talk to your Fire Chief and say you'de like more of your local info placed on this page.

In the mean time this article might be of interest to Firefighters, it contains audio parts of firefighters working in the WTC 09/11/01 before the falling of the towers. The link takes you to a New York Times Page. Scroll down to find the link to the Audios. This tape was found in the rubble afterwards and showed that there had been workable communication between some of the firefighters. They knew there was danger but were not aware that the whole place was going to fall. If interested Click Here.

NOTE:Sorry this link no longer takes you to the page stated. You may be able to search the site to find it but this is not a direct link any longer.

There isn't an Update for the Kanorado Fire Department but you can find the Orginal Page by clicking onto the Archives Button at the top of this page.
